Every morning they woke up very early and had to eat and do regular things before the workers got to the warehouse about at 8 o'clock. They had to be extremely quiet during the day and not leave any traces of them living in the annex. At night, the Franks could be louder because little to no people was in the building.

For food, they ate potatoes (sometimes rotten), cakes, beans, cornbread and maybe some kind of vegetable or fruit. To get this food Miep would go into town and get a big bag or purse and use ration books from the deceased. On occasions Miep would get cakes and better foods than the usual food they ate.

Everybody in the household was Jewish and on Hanukah they would eat fried potato cakes with onion infused in them. Some of the foods they would have are dairy foods and jelly doughnuts. They would have a main meat that was kosher. Kosher means the food laws or premises in which food is sold, cooked, or eaten meeting the requirements of Jewish law.

At times the Nazis would fly across Berlin and other big cities in Europe and bomb them if they saw lights. To prevent this people would paint over windows or put blankets over them. If an attack occurred they would hide under a sturdy object such as a table to prevent glass and debris from hitting them.

Now I will talk about relationships. Peter was a 15 year old and Anne was 13. They were somewhat far in age at that time, but to be in a house for 3 years with no one to be "special friends" with the finally were "special friends". Peter had a cat that he loved very much. The cats name was Mouschi.

For some reason Anne didn't get along with her mother. Anne always had mood swings because of hormones and being 13. Toward the end of the play, Anne finally got along with her mother.

Anne went to the concentration camps with her sister Margot. The one thing she had was family when she was imprisoned. Only one out of ten people lived in concentration camps. If they did live, they were in near dead condition. Imagine this. If a 180 pound male went into the concentration camp, if he survived, he would weigh around 70-80 pounds. They looked like skeletons.

Margot died 3 dayes before anne was executed in a gass chamber. On the good side, Miep lived to be 103 years old.

Life for the Franks, Van Daans, and Mr. Dussel while in hiding was characterized by fear, isolation, and confinement. They had to remain silent during the day to avoid detection and lived in very cramped conditions. They had to rely on others for supplies and were constantly in danger of being discovered by the Nazis.
