They settled in the west, where there was cheap land so that they could farm like they did in Ireland. The Irish settled in Branfelt, Dallas, and Houston once they got to Texas.
They settled there so if they where farmers their crops would get water and they had fertile land called silt. they also settled so if they would like to fish or anything like that they can do it.
