Life for many rural people in 1877 still consisted of claiming their land from various Indian tribes, and so it was a dangerous time for them, but in the cities, life was so good it was dubbed "The Gilded Age." People in city areas had many entertainments, such as theatre, Opera, and concerts, and they gave lavish parties at home as well.
