Yes, in "To Kill a Mockingbird," Mr. Underwood stood guard with a shotgun aimed at the mob that gathered at the jail where Tom Robinson was being held. His actions helped protect Atticus Finch and Tom from the violent intentions of the mob.
They linched them. This is affectivly attacking them/hitting them with rocks, wood, galls, anything they could find really!! they would even kick them!! If they then did not die, they would be hung.. Linching was considered a social event. It was what everyone at the time was into, like now a days it might be a certain band or hobby, but to them it was considered ''cool'' to attack blacks. they were considered repugnant and evil. that's why their churches were burnt. but now a days this is considered hippocritical. If they were real christians, would it matter wheher one person skin was darker than the other??
they felt that wasnt nobody better then them and didnt nobody deserve the right to live but them so they formed a divergent killing group to murder meaning burning, hanging, linching, etc. any race or religion that was not theres or did not follow the KKK.
