Who was president at the most recent time when there were no living presidents?

I assume your question is not meant to suggest that we have had zombie presidents and you mean "no living formerpresidents".If I've calculated correctly, the people who have been President of the US at a time when no former president was still alive are George Washington (for obvious reasons), John Adams, Ulysses S. Grant, Theodore Roosevelt, Herbert Hoover (briefly... Coolidge died in January 1933 and Hoover's term expired in March 1933; however, he wasn't quite as alone as the others, since there was already a president-elect by the time of Coolidge's death), and Richard Nixon. Those are in order, so the short answer is: Richard M. Nixon.

When did it become a part of the Constitution that presidents are only allowed to be elected two terms?

The 22nd Amendment (limiting the president to 2 terms) was passed by the Congress March 21, 1947. It was ratified by the requisite number of states on February 27, 1951. Since the president at the time, Harry S Truman was exempted from the amendment he technically could have been elected to the presidency a 3rd time had he chosen to run again. The only other ex-president alive at the time of the passage of the amendment was Herbert Hoover was elected to his single term before the ammendment was passed. Hoover too would have been limited to two terms since the exemption only applied to "any person holding the office of President when this article was proposed by the Congress" - which meant Harry Truman. Although he didn't die until 1965, Hoover never tried again for a second term after he was defeated by FDR - so the question of a 3rd term for Hoover was pretty moot even without the amendment.

What month did Hoover get elected for president?

The US Constitution establishes that all presidential elections must occur on the first Tuesday of November for the election year. In the case of President Hoover, this meant November 6, 1928. Since the actual election technically occurs when the votes of the electoral college are cast, it could also be accurately said that he wasn't really elected until December 12th of 1928.

Did the Depression happen during president Franklin Roosevelts' presidency?

The Depression did happen during President Roosevelts' presidency, but it had started four years before his presidency, under President Hoover. Both president Hoover and President Roosevelt initiated public works and legislation aimed at creating jobs and getting the economy back on its feet again. This started to take effect in 1934 and worked until 1938, when the economy relapsed. Ironically it took WW II to get the US economy finally booming again, as the war economy meant an enormous stream of orders for any company that directly or indirectly could service the massive war requirements.

Who was president of the United states during the great depression?

There were two presidents whose terms of office overlapped those years generally defined as the Great Depression. The First was Republican Herbert Clark Hoover (August 10, 1874 - October 20, 1964), who was 31st President of the United States from 1929-1933. However it was his successor, Democrat Franklin Delano Roosevelt, (January 30, 1882 - April 12, 1945) who presided over the bulk of the Great Depression, which Roosevelt's administration addressed by instituting a "New Deal" strategy of Government-funded initiatives, public works programs, and overhaul of the financial system. Contrary to the old and increasingly less popular belief that president Roosevelt's attempts to engineer America's economy back into health had a positive effect, economists and historians now increasingly maintain that Roosevelt's programs actually exacerbated and lent much greater longevity to the Depression, which lasted longer in the United States than it did in any other nation that felt the effect of the global economic downturn of the time. It is now commonly upheld in academic and professional circles that state expenditures toward the war effort (World War II, 1939 - 1945) were the only beneficial contribution by Roosevelt's programs toward the recovery of the American economy. It began under Hoover and continued under FDR.

Why leeves can increase the destruction caused by flooding?

They increase the flooding because leaves are meant to hold water back. For example think of the Hoover Dam which is almost like a levy. Behind it is a huge lake. If the dam wasn't there the water would be no where near the height that it's currently at. If the Hoover Dam broke it would cause flooding for hundreds of miles. This is why levees increase the destruction caused by flooding. There is more water then what there would be if the levee wasn't there..

What is the name when a brand takes on the meaning like back in the 80s when xerox meant photocopy ie go xerox this?

When a brand name takes on a general meaning, like Kleenex for tissue or Hoover for vacuumed cleaner, we say the brand name has been generisized. This is not a good thing for the company that owns the brand.
