There is no main cause of the Civil War. Southerners would tell you that it was "'Cause them dang Yankees won't let us live the way we live," while Abolitionist would say that it wat to free the slaves. Carolinians would say that it was because of "States' Rights." People would say that it was caused by the south seceeding, or other people would try to explain why the south seceeded. People study this stuff in colege, get a PhD in it, and still can't explain the main reason, but I have given you a few exmples.
