It was a drug introduced in the late 1950's. It had effects on zebra fish, rabbits, chickens, and primates (including humans). It causes severe birth defects. Example: Children born of a parent that used thalidomide could have shorter limbs (short arms, legs, etc), or could suffer brain damage. Fortunately only a small percentage of these people have suffered brain damage.
