This is a nonsense answer. There was no USA 500 years ago. And almost no Europeans here then either. Columbus hadn't even been here (NO he never reached North America, only the Caribbean and South America {on his 4th voyage}. And the average European male was taller than 4' 11".
Native Americans were taller than that too - both genders. Their diet hasn't changed enough to get any human from 4"11" to the circa 1700s or 1800s heights, and they were not small then. Research your answers vice publishing baloney.
