The HOP is from a Greek myth.
In Greek mythology, Amalthea was a goat who raised Zeus on her breast milk, in a cave, on mount Idi of Crete. Her horn was accidentally broken off by Zeus while playing together. The god Zeus, in remorse, gave her back her horn with supernatural powers, which would give whoever possessed it whatever they wished for. The original depictions showed that her horn was filled with fruits and flowers.
Greece. It is "cornucopia" or "cornu copiae" When Zeus was playing with the goat Amalthea he broke one of her horns so he promised that the horn would always be full of whatever fruit she desired. This became cornucopia of the Roman goddess Copia, the personification of plenty.
