When I was a teenager in the late 70's to the early 80's, Times Square was not as bright or "Las Vegas" like as it is now. There were a lot of dark corners but still the great Coca Cola sign was smack dab in the middle. There were old time movie theatres, Howard Johnson (still there), a Barnes & Nobles bookstore that was open 24 hrs (probably in the mid 80's) lots of tourist traps (electronic stores, "I Love NY" memorablia etc.)and of course the ubiquitous porn shops, peep shows and other less wholesome places concentrated around 8th Avenue. I feel like most people my age that the Square has become "Disneyfied" and one big billboard for one major corporation or another. Looking back the good old bad times where not that bad at all.
70s 80s is not very clear firstly. Is it 70s or 80s or 70s/80s? My only suggestion is Creedence Clearwater Revival and that you are thinking of 'Proud Mary'. NOTICE USE OF QUOTES TO HIGHLIGHT title.

In the 70s gaming was just lines and very bulky hardware. In the 80s you got games that where full on 2d side scrolling games with backbone and story. Some of the 80s consoles were smaller than ours today. Today we have full 3d open world games with sandbox like effects.
