The Supreme Court decided that the " separate but equal " wasn't legal. A person cannot be equal if they are kept segregated and this is what schools were doing. The court ordered that Brown be allowed to attend her school. When she went to school people yelled at her and called her names and the school kept her apart from the other students with a teacher assigned to her.
