From researching the same kind of things I have found a variance. The basic wage for a male was around 13 pounds but the average was more like 15-17pounds. Female basic wage was around 8-9 pounds
From a letter of employment, dated 3 November 1960, NSW Electricity Commision letter, the basic wage was 14.8.0 pounds per week
