The Old Testament was pretty much an introduction into the need for a Savior (Jesus). It showed how people just couldn't earn eternal life. Part of this is portrayed in the example of the Israelites. We make too many mistakes as humans.

The New Testament "Big Picture" was that Christ came to die for our sins, and has called us to follow Him. One day, He will come back in much glory! He will come and open the door to the new life to all who believe, trust, in Him! AMEN!

Additional Answer:

The OT is part 1 of The Bible. It gives the history of mankind and as the writer above correctly notes, it shows over and over again, mankind's need for a Savior. The Scriptures are replete with prophecy for the coming Messiah as Jesus Himself, taught the 2 men on the road to Emmaus, "O foolish ones, and slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken! Ought not the Christ to have suffered these things and to enter into His glory?' And beginning at MOSES and all the PROPHETS, He expounded to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself." (Luke 24:25-27)

But the OT was preserved by the Jews for all mankind to learn from and read future prophecies. It is called the 'Oracles of God' (Acts 7:38; Romans 3:2; Hebrews 5:12; 1 Peter 4:11).

Scripture is one, complete book. We are to live by every word of God!!

Where is Ships name is on bow or stern?

In the United States Navy, the name of the ship is painted across the stern. On merchant vessels the name of the vessel is painted on the stern together with the home port. It is also painted on both sides of the bow and it usually is also carved into a wood plate on both sides of the bridge. It is quite large and can easily be seen from a person walking on the pier when the vessel is tied up alongside.
