The largest Pacific tropical cyclone on record, and in fact the largest and most intense tropical cyclone ever recorded in the world, was Typhoon Tip in October 1979. At one point its panned nearly 1,400 miles across. This storm produced heavy rain on numerous small islands in the Pacific. It made landfall in Japan at category 1 intensity and caused damage in portions of Japan and China. Many docked ships and boats were destroyed and there was severe widespread flooding. A number of areas experience landslides triggered by the rainfall.
A hurricane is a type of cyclone, so that's what Katrina would have been. A typhoon is the same thing as a hurricane, only occurring in the western Pacific Ocean.

That depends on where it is. If it is in the Pacific it is a Typhoon. If it is in the Indian Ocean it is called a tropical cyclone, or a severe cyclonic storm.
Tropical storms/depressions have different names in every ocean. Typhoon is a storm which occurs in Pacific Ocean. Hurricane is an Atlantic one and Cyclone ravages in Indian ocean.
It's hurricane. NOT a Typhoon
