What has caused much of the violence in Sri Lanka?

Militant Tamil groups have been responsible for much of the violence in Sri Lanka. The Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam is an example of one such group. More popularly known as the Tamil Tigers, they were responsible for dozens of terrorist attacks.

well the war is technically still going on..its because theres two races the tamils and the sinhala...the tamils were opressed and such during british colonization and later on by the sinhala and then a civil war broke loose..the Tamil created a terrorist group called the LTTE which aims to get Tamil rights and break the country into two areas for the Tamil and the sinhala..the sri lankan gov't does not want this to happen..so as time passes on the LTTE has been bombing, destroying and killing sinhala people for many years now ... both groups are At Fault but really no one is doing anything about the issue....
