The colony of Georgia was basically a prison colony. It was a place were debtors worked to begin a new life. Colonial Georgia was founded by James Oglethorpe and served only to preserve rigid control over the debt-prisoners and to ensure that a military presence existed to buffer the Spanish in Florida at the time. Colonial Georgia's government was similar to all other colonial governments at the time, with specific attention paid to benefiting the extremely wealthy in Georgia. Colonial Georgia's government had no participation from the average citizen.
Georgia's first type of economy was back before the revolutionary war when a group known as the "Trustees" came from England(these people were prisoners of Great Britain) came to Georgia. They could not make laws, but were ordered to control the economy to prevent an attack from Spain's Florida. James Oglethorpe was the main leader of the Trustees. When Great Britain decided to change the economic control system, they appointed a royal goverenor known as Jonh Reynolds and later appointed Henry Ellis and James Wright. Right before the declaration was made, James Wright resigned around 1775. After the declaration, our economy slowly changed to what we have today. That's mostly correct for sure.......
