In 1799 he became the First Consul of the Executive Government of the First French Republic. On 2 August 1802 a national referendum was held that gave him the title of First Consul for Life. He was no longer bound to a 10 year term of office. His reforms were in place and France prospered. His opposition from within the Army were sent to San Domingo to put down the slave revolt and the unhappy royalists were exiled when he exposed them for plotting against his leadership. On 18 May 1804 the Senate passed a Bill introducing the French Empire with Napoleon as Emperor. On 2 December 1804 Napoleon Bonaparte crowned himself Emperor of the French.
The starting date is debated - either 1799 when Napoleon seized power as First Consul, or 1803 when Britain declared war on France, or 1804 when Napoleon was crowned Emperor of France. Either way, they lasted until 1815, when Napoleon was defeated for the final time at Waterloo and abdicated shortly after.

The traditional date for the end of the Revolution is coronation of Napoleon as Emperor in 1804. Prior to that another possible date is the beginning of the Directory and the Thermidorian Reaction, during which the radical elements of the Revolution were repressed. This begain in 1795.
We do not have a date for the birth of Charlemagne, but he is thought to have been 25 or 26 when he was crowned king. The date given for the coronation is October 9, 768.

After the Belgian Revolution took place in 1830-'31, the Belgian government declared itself no longer to be part of the Netherlands, which it was since Napoleon lost at Waterloo in 1815.There is no specific date, however the National Holliday is held on 21 July, in 1831 being the date the first king (King Leopold I) was crowned.
