The immediate result was the grounding of air traffic in the US. The legal result was the Patriot Act and the establishment of the Department of Homeland Security. The major foreign policy result was the "War on Terror" which led to the US invasion of Afghanistan (to eliminateg al-Qaeda's training camps), and the subsequent removal of the Saddam Hussein regime in Iraq.
The United States invaded Afghanistan with the goal of eliminating al-Qaeda's training camps
The Department of Homeland Security is a program developed as a direct result of the attacks on 9/11.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) was created as a result of the September 11th terrorist attacks. It was established to enhance national security and coordinate efforts to prevent future attacks on U.S. soil. The DHS is responsible for various aspects of domestic security, including border control, emergency response, cybersecurity, and counterterrorism.
The current NATO involvement in Afghanistan is the direct result of the terrorist attack of September 11, 2001. That attack was the work of Osama bin Laden as leader of al Qaeda, with the support of Mullah Omar of the Taliban. They have lots of reasons why it was necessary to attack the US, but nonetheless, there was no hostility between the US and Afghanistan prior to that attack (indeed, the US had strongly supported bin Laden when he was fighting off a Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, some years previously). So it was their decision to go to war. The US and its NATO allies responded in self defense.
the laws about government phone taps were loosened... <-- apex. STOP CHEATING! (:
On September 11, 2001, a total of 184 people died at the Pentagon as a result of the terrorist attacks.
The September 11th terror attacks caused the USA, UK and NATO to declare absolute war on global terrorism. As a result, shortly after the attack, Afghanistan was invaded by the USA, UK and NATO for harbouring terrorists and sheltering the terror group responsible for the attacks.
We = Dead It is likely that there would then be a nuclear terrorist attack on some major city, possibly Tel Aviv, New York, Washington, etc. And that would result in a nuclear retaliation. Exactly how much destruction would ultimately result, we cannot be sure. But there would be lots.
War on Terror
Manchester United cancelled that game because of a terrorist bomb attack.
The attack on the US by Japan in Hawaii. The next day, Germany declared war on the US. Game on.
I wish President Obama could stop terrorist attacks altogether. The question infers that Obama has some direct connection with terrorists. I do not believe it is within his power to tell terrorists when or where to attack and there are attacks occurring daily across the world.
