The October revolution of 1917 followed on that year's February Revolution . In February, the revolution had led to the abdication of the Russian Tsar and to a Republic in which 'moderate' republican groups were the dominant parties. In October, the Communists - who had only been a minor force until then - profited from the fact that the new Russian Government had continued to fight the Germans, which led to continued economic chaos and growing unrest among the Russian army and Navy. The promise to get them out of the war got the army and Navy to side with the Communist, who then had no trouble overthrowing the existing Russian Government. The October Revolution then lead to Russia becoming a Communist State for well over the next 70 years.

The Russian Revolution (The October Revolution)
Lenin's Revolution is the October Revolution of 1917, also called the Bolshevik Revolution.
The October Revolution, or Great October Socialist Revolution (Better know as Red October) It took place with an armed insurrection in Petrograd originally dated as 25th October 1917 in the Old Style, which corresponded with 7th November 1917.
There were four Russian Revolutions. The first one was the Revolution of 1905. Then there was the February Revolution of 1917, then the more widely known one, the October Revolution, which is also named the Great October Socialist Revolution, Red October, October Uprising, or the Bolshevik Uprising. The latest was the 1991 Revolution, which ended the Soviet Union and formed the Russian Federation.
The "Bolshevik Revolution" was more particularly known as the "October Revolution" in 1917. It is called this, because there had been two revolutions in Russia in 1917, one in February (called the February Revolution) and one in October (called the October Revolution) in order to distinguish one from the other. The Bolshevik Revolution is the one which overthrew the Provisional Government of Russia and put Lenin and the Bolshevik Party (later renamed Communist Party) in power. The February Revolution is the one which forced Tsar Nicholas II to abdicate the throne.
