PS. 1898 a group of Puerto Ricans went to the US to ask for US intervention. This group accompanied the US froces landing in Guanica PR. It is fact that many US soldiers were billited in private homes by request of local families.

2nd PS. There was vote that time PR asking to become part of the US.

I think theire were 266 negative votes out of thousands. And commenwealth was granted.

Yes, the United States annexed Puerto Rico during the war and made into a unincorporated territory of the US. Essentially the US got Puerto Rico from the Spanish-American War.
