Pterodactylus lived in Europe between 150.8 and 148.5 million years ago. At that time, Europe was subtropical and much of it was submerged under shallow seas, and what remained above water was divided into many islands. The islands were wooded, but rainfall wasn't abundant. The native plants included conifers, cycads, ferns, horsetails, and ginkgoes.
