Hubble Space Telescope
NASA's first telescope placed into orbit was the Orbiting Astronomical Observatory 2 (OAO-2), launched on December 7, 1968. It was the first of a series of orbiting observatories designed to study celestial objects without the interference of Earth's atmosphere.
The hourly time signals from the Royal Greenwich Observatory were first broadcast on 5 February 1924. These signals were used as a reference for timekeeping and synchronization purposes across a wide range of locations.
The oldest known celestial observatory built by humans is believed to be Stonehenge in England. It was constructed over 4,000 years ago and is thought to have been used for observing astronomical events such as solstices and equinoxes.
The first known observatory was built in ancient Greece by the astronomer and mathematician Thales in the 6th century BC. Since then, observatories have been constructed around the world by various astronomers and scientists to observe and study celestial bodies.
The flag of the United States was the first one placed on the moon during the Apollo 11 mission in 1969.
