There are many people who want to know what the first question on Yahoo! Answers was. The answers given are usually that "this was the first test question" and "this was the first question from when public participation was available". Yahoo! Answers started alpha testing on June 28, 2005, and public participation began on December 7, 2005

Even though public participation began on December 7, 2005, Yahoo! Answers was still undergoing beta testing at the time. I think I'm gonna get a lot of flak for saying this, but Yahoo! Answers should celebrate it's anniversary every May 15, not December 7 like it always does. Yahoo! Answers announced general availability on May 15, 2006 (and also removed it's beta tag on the very same day).

This was the first question asked after Yahoo! Answers announced general availability:

Every question prior to "Wat is the meaning of HTTP?" is considered a question from Yahoo! Answers' alpha and beta days. In other words, Yahoo! Answers was in it's prototype stages then. So any question asked during Yahoo! Answers' prototype stages should be considered separate from the questions asked after Yahoo! Answers announced general availability, even if public participation on Yahoo! Answers began on December 7, 2005. The alpha and beta version of Yahoo! Answers are not the final product. The alpha version of Yahoo! Answers lasted from June 28, 2005 to December 6, 2005. The beta version of Yahoo! Answers lasted from December 7, 2005 to May 14, 2006. The final version of Yahoo! Answers started, as I mentioned above, on May 15, 2006.
