The Magic Kingdom was the very first Walt Disney World Park that opened. It opened for the very first time on October 1, 1971. Epcot opened in the early 80's, followed by MGM (in the late 80s/early 90s), and followed up by Animal Kingdom in the mid 90s.

When the Walt Disney World Resort opened on October 1, 1971, it had only one park, the Magic Kingdom. Also completed in time for the opening were the Contemporary, Polynesian, and Fort Wilderness hotels and the Palm and Magnolia Golf courses (which actually opened several weeks before).
