World War 2 had a German Jet that was used only for a very short time. I have attached a link for you to see the Jet and learn more about it.
World War 2 had jets and they shot each other down.
1. First war fought by the USAF. 2. Worlds first "jet" war.
The Hurricane wasn't a jet. It first flew in 1935.
WW1 (1914-1918) was mankind's FIRST aerial war; airplanes fought airplanes (dog-fights). Korean War (1950-1953) was man's FIRST "Jet" air war; jet airplanes fought jet airplanes (dog-fights). WW1 & Korean War were the only wars of the 20th century ended by an Armistice.
The first working successful Jet was made by Germany in world war 2. Though other countries also was reseaching jet aviation, Germany was the first to get it.
Korea. The Nazi's did invent a jet warplane during WWII, but the Allies didn't and in any case the Nazi jet never progressed much past prototype as it was only designed during the later stages of the war.
During the Korean War, the first American made jet engine for the US Air Force was General Electric. Soon after the Pratt and Whitney corporation developed a faster jet engine for the US Air Force.

The first jet propelled aircraft was built in the latter part of World War II. Frank Whittle of the RAF pattened his turbo jet in 1932, and had a prototype running in 1April 937. At the same time, Nazi Germany was working on jet propulsion as well, with a working prototype taking flight in August 1939.
The first jet fighters were created during WW2. The Luftwaffe's Me 262 was the first to actually fly war missions, soon caught up by the RAF's Gloster Meteor, although the Meteor did not participate in aerial combat in WW2.
