The Ottoman Empire during Suleiman the Magnificent's reign was very large. His empire almost completely dominated the Mediterranean Sea controlling roughly 60 percent of its shores and stretched east to Baghdad and Mecca. Italy, Spain, Greece and France were the only other powers that controlled the Mediterranean Sea.
