The main idea of john Locke is that "the people" have the right to overthrow their government if said government is not acting on and for the needs of "the people". He believed that it is "the people's" right to choose their own government. He was a philosopher who believed in Natural Rights (life, liberty, and the right to property) which cannot be given or taken away by men, but given to and taken from us by God.
