The south was diversely affected by the industrial revolution. Their economy was weakened but more work was done in refineries. Job shifting occurred and it went to the cities instead of farming.

Industrialization had an impact on crops and agriculture in all areas of the country. In the south, farmers developed new ways to speed up the process of harvesting their cash crops. To the west, it meant people were able to move west and expand the boundaries of the young country.

The Industrial revolution introduced steamboats to the south allowing crops to be shipped and sold faster to other areas improving those economies while still improving the economies of the south with the wealth from the trade helping farms and plantations do better.

Other way round.

The industrial revolution started in 18th century England, and was taken up by American employers, nearly all in the North. These factory-bosses increasingly wanted skilled men, often arrivingfrom Europe, and could not use massed ranks of illiterates. That is why slavery was abolished in the North.

The South depended heavily on slavery for the cotton trade, so the industrial revolution had very little impact there.

That was the big difference between North and South, that turned out unbridgeable, and caused the Civil War.
