Yes, so I posted link with power point presentation on the bombings in the related links box below.
For the USA vs. Japan portion of WWII, the Coral Sea battle started the USA's victories against Japan. The atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki ended WWII though.
The bombing of Hiroshima brought us to the atomic era. Hiroshima and Nagasaki were the last attacks in World War Two. Japan surrendered after the attacks.
There was effectively no "fighting" involved in the bombings. By that point, the US had pretty much total air superiority and could bomb anywhere in Japan more or less at will.
On August 6, 1945 Hiroshima was the primary target cityof the Little Boy enriched uranium atomic bomb and the bomb was dropped there. On August 9, 1945 Kokura was the primary target city of the Fatman plutonium atomic bomb, however due to heavy smoke cover from a nearby city that had been firebombed the night before it was not possible for the bombardier to identify the aim point and it was decided to proceed to the secondary target. On August 9, 1945 Nagasaki was the secondary target cityof the Fatman plutonium atomic bomb and the bomb was dropped there, despite heavy cloud cover making it difficult for the bombardier to identify the aim point (as it was the bombardier identified the wrong point, resulting in the Fatman being dropped about 1.9 miles from the planned aim point). The aircraft did not have enough fuel left to consider proceeding to the tertiary target city.
The military significance of Hiroshima and Nagasaki primarily lies in their role in hastening the end of World War II. The atomic bombings in August 1945 demonstrated the overwhelming destructive power of nuclear weapons, compelling Japan to surrender unconditionally. This shift not only marked a pivotal point in military strategy, showcasing the effectiveness of nuclear deterrence, but also initiated the Cold War arms race, fundamentally altering global military dynamics. The bombings highlighted the potential for total war, influencing future military and diplomatic policies.
the atomic bomb was used to kill thousands of people in Hiroshima, and Nagasaki, two main cities in Japan. the point of dropping them was to end the war through destruction and violence not peace.
Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Japan
At that time, there were no laws about using nuclear weapons but some people call the nuclear bombings a terror act. President Truman stated that Hiroshima was a military strong point but most of the people were civilians.
America dropped Atomic Bomb onto the Japanese city of Nagasaki was because, during World War 2, Nagasaki was the largest sea port in South Japan, so this was a key area where the Japanese got it Military Equipment and food resources, along with other supplies. Also, with Hiroshima, at some point during the war, American sources suspected that the city had a Military Space, which was worth targeting however, this wasn't true but Hiroshima did have a Military base. Also, during the war, In north of Nagasaki, there was a camp, which held British Commonwealth POW's.
Hiroshima is in Japan. Hiroshima is the capital of Hiroshima Prefecture, and the largest city in the Chūgoku region of western Honshu, the largest island of Japan.
My opinion is, Truman should have used the atomic bomb. If he hadn't the war would have continued, and more would have died. Also I think that at one point the Axis would have dropped a atomic bomb on an allied city, possibly killing more then at Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
