The last game was on April 14th, 1996 against the Hartford Whalers. Buffalo won that game 4-1.

I was 11 years old when I went to that game with my mother, and I was able to meet Rick Jeanerette and Jim Lorentz, and then was generously offered by those announcers to be escorted to the front of the Sabres locker room. I was able to get Autographs from Ted Nolan, D. Audette, McKee, Barnaby, Hasek, and Zhitnik to name a few. After waiting around for quite some time, we determined that we were not going to see any more players or staff so we began to walk around confusing corridors to find our way out of the building.

We wandered (accidentally) into the players parking garage and there was Pat Lafontaine getting into his vehicle. I asked him for an autograph, he obliged, and then an usher or his bodyguard (?) or someone had said "no more signatures" to the 3 or so other people who were waiting and he got in his vehicle and left.
