Pre-prohibition it was the age of 21 then in 1964-1975 due to the 26th Amendment which was adopted in 1971 it went to 18 in 1972. But then due to the drinking act that was passed in 1984 it changed again. It was raised to 19 in the year of 1980, then it was again raised to the age of 20 in 1985. Then in 1986 it was raised to 21 and this is where it is today.
