We had ration coupons, iron and paper drives, Victory Gardens , consumer shortages , women doing men's jobs , War Bonds and unstinting support of our troops. No whining , and the motto for home consumers was use it up , wear it out , and make do , so our soldiers had what they needed. MY how times have changed.
