The League of Nation was created in 1920. As most of the destruction in World War One was in Europe, European nations were strong supporters of the League. One of the main purposes of the League was to prevent wars by having international disputes settled by an agreement. The League of Nations could not prevent many conflicts that erupted before World War Two came about.
The League of Nations was viewed by the world as "the league of the victors of World War 1" rather than a fair league for all nations. Most nations ignored the League and their goals therefore the League did little to prevent World War 2. The Treaty of Versailles was also connected to the League of Nations and many nations resented that Treaty. This was a major contributing factor of the reasons for World War 2 being started and fought.
Most importantly the USA because congress wanted to maintain a policy of isolationism. If they didn't join the league of nations then they wont get dragged into another European Conflict
