That depends on what you mean by "famous". The Springfield 1861 rifled musket was used extensively by the North. Colt Dragoons and Army and Navy percussion revolvers were used by both sides. The Henry Repeating Rifle was pretty much the first production repeating rifle used by the US Military. One of the strangest but well known guns used was the LeMat revolver, which had 9 loads in the cylinder, and a shotgun barrel below the main barrel.
