∙ 14y agoThe name is unknown. It's written in Etruscan, which is a language long lost to scholars. It was found about 60 years ago in a tomb, and it is estimated to be at least 2,500 years old, pre-dating Christ by 5 centuries.
It is made of gold leafing, which explains why it has survived so long. There are images visible in the gold leafing, but what they mean is something scholars have yet to ascertain.
It is generally referred to as "the oldest book in the history of mankind" because the title and subject matter is not known.
It may be important to note that the word "book" has a specific definition, and that other documents and records historians have uncovered are older than this book, but they're not books. They're scrolls, or clay tablets, or other forms of records.
