The Wilderness road was a road made by Daniel Boone for the Transylvania Company from Fort Chiswell in Virginia through the Cumberland Gap that went through the Appalachians (to trans-Appalachia, which went to the west) .It was among the first paved roads in the US and its name was changed to the US Highway 25.
