Palos, the port near Huelva. It's interesting to note that Palos in Granda, Spain was liberated from the Moors (Muslims) around 1487. Also interesting to note is that Columbus sailed from the port just beating a deadline set by the Edict of Expulsion which ordered the expulsion of all Jews and Muslims from Spain.
Ponce De Leon had sailed with Christopher Columbus on his second voyage and had later helped take over Puerto Rico.
Columbus sailed with 90 men on his first voyage. 26 on the Pinta 24 on the Nina and 40 on the Santa Maria Santa Maria ran aground and sank and Columbus had to leave 39 men behind in the Caribean for his return journey. These men were all killed by the natives before Columbus returned on his second voyage. Columbus took about 20 natives as slaves, only 7 of which survived the crossing to spain.
i am changing the answer someone put because its totally wrong! they put 1513(wrong) but its 1493. hope that helped and " put the right answers" to whoever put the last wrong one.Actually, 1513 is correct if you are talking about his first expedition to Florida. 1493 is the date he sailed from Spain to what is now the Caribbean.
Columbus never made land in North America, so he didn't take any ships to " New York". NY also did not exist in the 1400's. Nothing was there until the Dutch founded a colony 200 years later. So, he,took ZERO ships to NY.
A: Juan Ponce de Leon sailed with him.
Ponce de Leon.
