Switchfoot Switchfoot
Although the band was originally known as "Chin Up", the band mates (Jon Foreman, Tim Foreman, and Chad Butler) choose the band name Switchfoot because it is a surfing term that is used when a surfer changes their foot position on the board and goes the opposite way. It can also mean to gain a new perspective or new insight. As a group hailing from San Diego, California, the name felt appropriate.
Coldplaycopeland and switchfoot
Switchfoot named their band after the surfing trick of riding switchfoot- which is where you ride a wave standing backwards on your board. They gave themselves this name because they wanted to be different then other Christian bands. They didn't want to write four chord worship songs with throw-away lyrics. They wanted to dig deeper, ask questions, and make people think.
Switchfoot's 2009 CD was titled "Hello Hurricane"
