Gacy is buried in Maryhill Cemetery, Niles, Cook County, IL. Some of Gacy's artwork had been sold to private citizens* with the intention of donating the proceeds to victims families. The project caused such a public outcry that the idea was scrapped and there is now a law prohibiting killers from benefiting financially from their crimes.

*Actor Johnny Depp somehow acquired a Gacy painting, his intention was to donate the proceeds to families of Gacy's victims. He quickly disposed of the painting.

He had a character knonw as Pogo the clow. He picked victims out of his shows. He Gacy was convicted of the torture, rape and murder of 33 males between 1972 until his arrest in 1978. On May 10, 1994, Gacy was executed by lethal injection.
