There is not much to it. All it would do would is make more smoke come out when you shoot it and it would make your gun a little bit harder to clean because black powder is corrosive. Considering how small a 22. short bullet is youwouldn't even see the affects. If you want to try something cool try shooting a black powder shotgun shell.

Is 22 short the same as 22 short black powder?

No. Mosern .22 shorts are loaded with smokeless powder. .22 short black powder is loaded with just that - black powder. Smokeless powder develops higher pressures than black powder and should not be blindly used without some confirmation that the gun will handle the pressures. Consult a local gunsmith.

What is the difference between 22 short and 22 long?

The short is shorter, has less powder, and travels slower. The 22 Long Rifle has pretty much replaced the Long. It has the case of a Long, but a heavier bullet, and more powder.

How many grams of gunpowder is in a 22 long rifle?

Powder charges are traditionally weighed in GRAINS rather than grams. Originally, the .22 LR was loaded with 7 grains of very fine black powder. All present day 22 LR ammo is loaded with smokeless powder, and the charge is about 1 grain.

Are 22 cal short bullets for a 22 cal revolver?

22 shorts can be used in any 22 cal. weapon. however, some 22 rifles require long or long rifle 22 bullets. AA: Normally you use 22 shorts in a 22 cal revolver. 22 shorts use pistol powder. It burns much faster than rifle powder. Thus, a 22 short bullet is going as fast as it is going to go after it has travelled about 4 inches. A 22 long or long rifle uses rifle powder. The powder burns slower. It has finished burning when the bullet is about 20 inches down the barrel. A 22 long rifle bullet has very little force when shot from a pistol. The powder is still burning long after the bullet slowly left the barrel. So use pistol ammunition for a pistol and rifle ammunition for a rifle.

Is it safe to shoot 22 hornets through a rifle stamped 22 WCF?

No, it is not. The 22 W.C.F. was originally a black powder cartridge. It was loaded with 13 grains of FFF black powder under a 45 grain cast-lead bullet at a listed velocity of only 1481 fps, making it a low pressure cartridge. The bullet diameter for the 22 W.C.F. was .226 The 22 Hornet is loaded with modern high pressure (fast burning) smokeless powder, and it pushes a 45 grain jacketed bullet to 2600+ fps. The bullet diameter is .224

What is the difference in 22 mag and 22 hornet?

A .22 Mag is a Rimfire cartridge(which means the firing pin in your gun strikes the rim of the case that only has priming compound and no powder and ignites,so its a short burst of pressure). The .22 Hornet is a Centerfired Cartridge(which means it has a primer and powder)and is more powerful due to the bullet is propelled using higher pressure for a longer amount of time...The .22 Mag is cheaper to shoot...
