The fact that was on a peninsula was not intentional. The coast that was closest to the Atlantic and England was on a peninsula was well as the swamps they thought would be safe to live as a barrier from the natives.
The main reason they chose the site they did was because the water was deep enough for the ship and they could anchor there. They choose the worse site in the entire area. It was part of a 15000 Native American empire, had bad water, mosquitoes, and no gold. The geology of the area doesn't support gold, but they didn't know that.
Because it felt like it so shut up and stop cheating!!!
One of the reasons Jamestown was built there was for protection from the Spanish .
The settlers wanted to live a life in America, and the founders wanted to find gold and natural resources to trade and become rich.
severe drought made it difficult for the settlers to cultivate crops.
The settlers were, in fact, both British. Jamestown settlers were mainly from London (England). However, 50% of the Jamestown settlers were classed as "gentlemen". These were not working class men but were landowners and people who did not do manual labour. This caused issues as they did not have the necessary skills like carpenters, builders farmers and blacksmith which were needed to initiate the building of the colony.
They failed to bring farmers to grow food.
The fertile farm land was the original reason that settlers were attracted to the South. The warmer weather was another reason they wanted to go to the South.
Settlers choose to build jamestown on a peninsula because it was easy to defend from the Native Americans.
it was built on the peninsula for safety reason. so enemies wont attack.
the settlers from Plymouth were searching for religious freedom. They wanted to freely practice their puritan religion without any struggles with the governments disapproval or disagreement. the settlers from Jamestown were mostly made up of gentlemen seeking fortune.

To gain Wealth
Much of the contrast between the two colonies had to do with the reason they came to America. Jamestown settlers sought economic gain and were sponsored by the Virginia Company of London, an organization that wanted to expand English trade and get a wider market for Britainâ??s manufactured products. New England settlers moved to America due to the religious persecution they had suffered in England. While most people in the Jamestown colonies were members of the Church of England, the Pilgrims were dissenters from the Church of England and established the Puritan Church.
