What was the result of collisions between the early Earth and other, smaller protoplanets?
after collisions subsided, the earth's surface was able to cool, but the interior remained hot
The atmosphere. Space junk, or space debris, and there are tons of it left behind from countless missions. It causes problems for current missions, since collisions could result in serious damage or death.
No. They generated heat.
The ozone protects from hazards. It is a layer in stratosphere.

Many, many planetesmals and possibly a few protoplanets.
From debris following a collision of two planet sized protoplanets - one of which was early Earth.
Cosmic Collisions - 2009 Earth was released on: USA: 21 June 2009
The Northern Lights, also known as Aurora Borealis is caused by collisions between electrically charged particles from the sun that enters the earth's atmosphere. The type of gas particles that are colliding result in the variations in color.
It seems odd to postulate that the planets/moons in our galaxy were the result of collisions. If that were true, why have we not been witnessing recurring collisions-- with the creation of other new planets/moons?

near-Earth astroids
Tides are the result of lunar (and solar) gravity.
The moon has no conditions in which to alter the surface. Think about it... The earth has mountains and canyons because of erosion. The earth is so near the moon that it would have experienced very similar collisions with meteoroids, over time after such meteoroids collapsed onto larger masses and got corralled between planets the conditions of the earth {i.e.) weather, water, erosion} smoothed out the evidence of any collisions. The moon did not because the moon could not. Yep
The three philosophical factors which could cause the collision between civilization and earth could be: 1. Increase in population 2. The suggestion of scientific and technological ideas 3. The use of tobacco.
