To say that Canaan was gay is essentially an argument from silence. The Bible makes it plain when it speaks of homosexuality or heterosexuality or anything else for that matter.
This allegation is supposedly based upon an interpretation of Genesis 3 v 15, where Canaan is cursed by Noah. A wide variety of interpretations of the meaning of this curse have been advanced over the years but homosexuality would seem to be the least likely from the text and the context.
