The original Globe was burnt down in 1613, a new one was built in 1614 and closed in 1642, the latest one (which is about 230 meters from the original site) was built in 1997 which is a circular shape.

The actual dimensions of the theatre are unknown, but its shape and size can be approximated.

Archaeological and other evidence suggests that it was a three-storey, open-air building approximately 100 feet (30 m) in diameter.

The Globe is shown as round on Wenceslas Holler's sketch of the building, later incorporated into his etching Long View of London from Bankside in 1647.

In 1988-89, the uncovering of a small part of the Globe's foundation suggested that it was a polygon of 20 sides.
