Political- The Spread of Communism was a main concern in America during this time.Also the Great Depression happened in this time period, which crippled the world's economy. Totalitarian leaders were starting to gain power. Hitler, Mussolini, and Stalin were all gaining power. All of these political events eventually lead to WWII.

Social - Marrying and having children were not important. The United States as a nation was in a fend for yourself state of mind because of depression. My history teacher brought up the fact that during the depression birth rates were lower then they have ever been.
