According to Thayer's account, Jacqueline Bouvier, the future Jackie Kennedy, said that Miss Helen Sandison's lectures on Shakespeare was "the greatest course I have ever had (at Vassar)." Jackie was said to say according to Thayer that Sandison was "the most inspired teacher" and who "loved her subject most."
