The deaths of the Sullivan brothers weren't weird, just extremely tragic. During the war, all five of the brothers were assigned to USS Juneau, a light cruiser.
In November of 1943, Juneau was sunk by a Japanese submarine with very high loss of life, and all five brothers were killed during the sinking or in the immediately following events.
The deaths of basically an entire family (they were survived by their sister) made national headlines. What made the tragedy even worse was that the Sullivan family was not notified by the Navy of the deaths until several months had passed in order to preserve operational security.
"Dear sirs, I am writing to you in regards to a rumor going around that my five sons were killed in action in November...I hated to bother you, but it has worried me so that I wanted to know if it was true. Please tell me. It was hard to give all five sons at once to the Navy, but I am proud of my boys that they can serve and help protect their country." -Alleta Sullivan

Naval Battle of Guadalcanal
The Sullivan brothers were all on the same ship during WW2. When the ship was sunk all of them lost their lives. This left a family back in the US without anyone to carry on the family name. The Navy passed an order that brothers were no longer allowed to serve on the same vessel.
The Sullivan brothers were five siblings who were all killed in action during or shortly after the sinking of the light cruiser USS Juneau (CL-52), the vessel on which they all served, on November 13, 1942, in World War II.

Everyone is weird, sometimes temporary and sometimes permanently. So yes, brothers can be weird but it is something that makes them unique. You wouldn't want everyone to be exactly the same would you?
