The political situation in 1860 in the US was complicated. The main "national party" the Democratic Party was split three ways. This helped the united Republican Party under President Lincoln to win the US presidency. The Democrats later united and by the end of the US Civil War the two major national parties were the Republicans and the Democrats.
how did democrats and republicans differ on hte best ways to improve opportuinity for Americans
There are 2 main political parties in the US, the Republicans and the Democrats. The Democrats are in charge of the Executive Branch. In the Legislative Branch, there are 2 houses, the House of Representatives and the Senate. In the House of Representatives the Republicans have control, but in the Senate the Democrats have control. In the Judicial Branch there are 4 accepted conservatives (republicans) and 3 accepted liberals (democrats) the remaining 2 vote both ways; so it can be said that Republicans have the judicial branch.
A democratic republic is set up in many ways ....
Explain at least three ways political parties campaign for their candidates to be elected.
one of them is republic
19 Republicans choose 3 and 12 Democrats choose 2. This is written as 19C3 * 12C2; or 969*66 or 63954 ways can a subcommittee be assembled if it must contain 3 Republicans and 2 Democrats as stated in the question.
Arguably, both major parties benefit minority groups, albeit in different ways (and different groups). Democrats generally support a strong social safety net, which helps minorities that have had less opportunity to succeed, due to being targets of systemic racism. Republicans are strong proponents of religious freedom, which ostensibly would prevent the persecution of people of less-popular faiths.
Interest groups, like political parties, are centered on individuals with similar interests. Political parties, however, have much more public influence and are not necessarily about sharing interests as they are promoting those who share certain interests.
Third parties make the political system more democratic by offering more choices. America has become a two-party system with third parties struggling to even get on the ballot in most states. A strong third party, which addresses a specific issue or platform, would force the two dominant parties to expand their platform to include these issues in an effort to compete with the third party.
