Tell them that you would like to sell your games. They will ask you if you have an EDGE card. If not you will have to sign up for one. When you trade in your games they will put the money on the EDGE card.

Afraid not my friend. The GameStop Edge Discount card is only good in GameStop/EB Games stores or online at GameStop.com
Unfortunately no. The reason is that the credit stored on an Edge Card is not taxed. This is because money put on an Edge card is from trading games in at a GameStop location or by a credit card (at the store). Since the games are traded for in-store credit, the government does not own this "currency", thus it is not taxed. GameStop does sell gift cards, which are essentially the same, except taxed.
Well, that depends on what you mean. The Gamestop Edge card is not a credit card, so in that way you cannot use it to pay for anything. It also can only be used in a Gamestop store, not at the grocery store or something. It does give you a discount on used games at Gamestop though, so if you are paying with a credit card or with cash and buying used games, you can use your Edge card to get a discount.

No, it is not. You can own an EDGE (or iEDGE) card and do many things with it that are completely fine. You can even play Nintendo games in it legally - IF and ONLY IF you also own the real game (i.e. you back it up to this card).
