Christopher Columbus was a failure because he wasn't the first to discover America, the vikings did. Also when he arrived there he thought that he was in India therefore he gave the natives the name "Indians"
Historians today mostly agree that Columbus' successes and failures more or less even out. First of all, his calculations about the westward route to the Indies were totally off the mark. He estimated that the trip would be 2-3,000 miles, while in reality it was some 30,000 miles. By rights, he and his shipmates should have perished from hunger and thirst long before they got anywhere.
Columbus had been warned about this, too: when he first approached King John of Portugal as a sponsor, the king's cartographers told him that he was totally mistaken: the circumference of the Earth was exactly known, as was the location of India and China on the planet. But Columbus wouldn't listen.
He discovered the Caribean islands totally by accident, and until his death remained firmly convinced that they were part of the Indian coastal area.
When he was appointed Governor of the island of Hispaniola, he made a total mess of it. He and his brothers were feared for their cruelty, greed and corruption - so much that the Spanish Government had him arrested for 'Tyranny" and transported back to Spain in chains. He was so generally detested by other magistrates in the Caribean that when he stranded on Jamaica during his fourth trip, it took a year before he was picked up from the island by the Spanish.
In later journeys, Columbus mostly discovered other Caribean islands. He did on one trip find the coast of Central America and calculated it to be the location of the Biblical Garden of Eden. A Creationist might say: "Well, who knows?"
After four trips Columbus remained in Europe, spending much of his energies on ligitation against the Spanish Crown for a cut of the profits from the American colonies that he claimed had been promised to him. He didn't win, however.
Yes he was a failure because he was a bad govener, he got in many arguments with the settlers and he also disrespected the Native Americans.
Finding a faster way to get to China by going west. He ran into South America

He was made famous by the Italians wanting a day to celebrate like the Irish celebrated St. Patrick so they picked Columbus as a symbol. His discovery of America is not true and he wasn't an Italian. In his own life he was considered a failure.

He didn't and he never knew about North America. He died a failure, broke, and sick..
He didn’t find gold and spices. One Native American in Hispaniola brought him a gold nugget and if was so small it upset Columbus. He cut the man’s hand off. Basically, Columbus was a failure and when he died he was broke.
No. Even though he was looking for new routes to India, he was able to find new land for Spain.
